Getting to Glencoe and Loch Leven

The journey is as good as the destination

Travelling by car

From the South

A82 from Glasgow – a straightforward and scenic journey with plenty of places to stop and stretch your legs along the way.

A828 via Oban – you might chose to drive the West Coast Scenic Route a bit of a longer drive but a quieter route.

A84 via Stirling/Callander – if you’ve seen Loch Lomond many a time you may want to take a right before you reach Glasgow and take a journey through the countryside and  there are still some lochs along the way.

From the North

If you are heading down from the North West Highlands or the Isles you will most likely be on the A82 or A830, once through Fort William a drive of about 20 minutes brings you to the start of the Glencoe and Loch Leven area.

Travelling by bus

From the South

Catch the CityLink bus from various points in Glasgow and in a little over 2 hours you will enter the Pass of Glencoe, hopefully you will be travelling in daylight so you get to see the glen in all its glory.  There are several stops to chose from along the way.

From the North

A CityLink service runs from Uig in the north of Skye and travels south to Glasgow, the bus stops at various points along the way.   A local bus service runs from Inverness to Fort William where you change buses to get into our area.

Travelling by train

From the South

Catch the train from Glasgow Queen Street and enjoy the scenic ride up to Fort William. You could disembark at Crianlarich or Bridge of Orchy if you have other transport plans in place.   The journey takes longer than it does by car as the tracks weave their way around the mountains and you get to enjoy the magical journey across Rannoch Moor.

From the North

A local train service runs from Mallaig to Fort William or during the peak season you can hop aboard The Jacobite steam train.

Travelling by Taxi

Our local Taxi firm, Alistair’s Taxi’s, can provide a meet and greet service on all transfers from all City Centres and Scottish and UK Airports to the Glencoe and Ballachulish area.

Travelling by air

There are several airports within easy reach of Glencoe, it’s worth shopping around to see where you can get the best deals.
