Glen Roy, The Parallel Roads and Loch Arkaig

Scenic Drives & Days Out

    Activity Details

Up to Fort William and turn left at the roundabout onto the Mallaig road, but this time turn right just after the canal bridge signposted Banavie.  Following this road and the Caledonian Canal, you reach Gairlochy where carrying straight on takes you to Achnacarry and the Clan Cameron Museum, and on along the shores of Loch Arkaig, with some spectacular views and waterfalls.  Returning to Gairlochy, take the B8004 to Spean Bridge past the famous Commando Memorial.  A detour here to Roy Bridge takes you to the Glen Roy National Nature Reserve with its “parallel roads” created by glacial movement during the last ice age.  Return on the A82 to Glencoe via Fort William.
