At one time Kinlochleven had two piers in service, one for the factory and one to transport goods and passengers to the village. During the 1914-1918 war German prisoners of war built the road to Glencoe, which led to a gradual decline in the goods and passenger service boats.
Start at the Aluminium Story, turn left down the main shopping street until you come to a car park and picnic site on your right. Go through picnic site and turn left at the path, follow this path taking care at the fenced tarmac path (ongoing repairs). This will take you to the head of the loch where you can see stunning views of the Mamores and Loch Leven. To complete the circular walk follow the path to a roughly surfaced road on your right.
