Glencoe Orbital Track

Walking, Hiking & Climbing

    Activity Details

Park in the village carpark, just behind the Glencoe Mountain Rescue building.  From here, head up along the road through the village.

On this walk you will pass the Glencoe and Lorn Folk Museum, the War memorial, and very short detour will take you to the Masacre monument.

Head over the old hump back bridge, and the sign posts will direct you along a woodland track where you will get great views of the Pap of Glencoe.  Further along the track you will pass Loch Torren,  and the An Torr woodland walks where you can head up to Signal rock, where a fire was supposedly lit to start the massacre.

From the woodland path, head over the An Torr footbridge, follow path along the side of the river, where you will be rewarded with great views up the Glen, the Aonach Dubh face and Bidean Nam Bean.  When you get to the end of the track, you will be back on the main road, so care is needed especially if you have children.  You can either return back along the path you have just come from, or if you cross the road, you can take a wander up to the edge of Loch Achtriochtan for magnificent views up through the Glen.
