Camus House Lochside Guest House

Guest House and B&B

Onich Inverness-shire PH33 6RY | Contact Simon & Heather

Situated in the quiet village of Onich, midway between Glencoe and Fort William, it is an ideal base for exploring this part of the West of Scotland. The Isles of Skye and Mull and the Ardnamurchan peninsula and Loch Ness are within easy reach for a day trip. The more energetic will find outdoor activities, including walking, climbing, golfing, fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing and canoeing easily accessible in the area. We place guests’ comfort and enjoyment as our first priority and aim to provide quiet, peaceful and relaxing accommodation of a high standard at a reasonable rate.

Camus House takes it’s name from the gaelic meaning “on the bay”. The house was built in 1892 on an elevated site on the edge of Onich Bay. The panoramic views from the front of the house, and enjoyed from most of the bedrooms, are far reaching over Loch Linnhe and extend as far as the mountains on the Isle of Mull to the Southwest and to the mountains of Glencoe to the Southeast. The gardens are planted with a wide variety of shrubs and hold colour and interest throughout the year although they are most colourful in early June when the Azaleas are in flower.

Our large reception hall has antique pine panelling and an impressive stairway, with comfortable sofas and a welcoming atmosphere. It is a cosy place to meet, plan excursions and relax and, in the colder months, is warmed by a log burning stove.

In the evenings the conservatory is one of the best places to experience the beautiful sunsets over the breathtaking scenery of the Morvern Mountains and towards the Isle of Mull.

Breakfast is served in our tastefully decorated dining room which overlooks Loch Linnhe. The varied wildlife on and in the loch is often spotted during breakfast with red-breasted Mergansers, Great Northern Divers, Eider Duck, Guillemots and seals being regular visitors with the occasional sighting of porpoises, dolphins and otters in the loch. Our resident red squirrel “Hugh” (because his coat has a red hue!!) sometimes makes an appearance at breakfast time. Of course, we cannot make any guarantees on any of these appearing!

We aim to offer a warm welcome and high standards at Camus House. Here you will find a very happy and relaxed atmosphere – Highland Hospitality at its very best and hotel standard of comfort at affordable prices.
